Excess saliva??? I am 12 wks with baby number 3 and this is the first time I am dealing with this. It started when I was around 5wks. It has slowed down now but I cannot swollow my saliva because it makes me sick. I have to chew gum or eat candy or constantly drink to keep from spitting. Will this pass? How long have you had it for? This is so fustrating because i cannot go out without having to stop and spit. Sorry if this is tmi just need some advice

I haven't, but here's a bump - it's normal, that's all I know.  =)

yes and it will last as long as morning sickness is supposed to last and maybe longer. Dont chew gum or eat candy because it increases the amount of saliva your mouth is producing. instead use listerine and drink a ton of water. Avoid sugar because that can also increase it.  The saliva itself is good for your teeth as long as you arent finding it acidic, if you are talk to your doctor and he may have to treat for reflux which can erode your enamel and leave you prone to cavities and further dental and health issues. Another home remedy for it would be to suck on a lemon or sunflower seeds.  Be careful with the acidity of the lemons though...
