I'm 14 wks and currently sitting in hospital for the 2nd night. I was at work yesterday and suddenly had to vomit. I ran to the BR vomited bright red blood. I called my OB, already knowing they were going to tell me to go directly to ER. I arrived and overhear the dr say- so you're pg and vomiting, huh? I look right at him and say- no, its a little more complicated than that! I quickly explained what was going on. He still thought I was a nut but decided to do some labs. They also decided to hang some fluids as well. I also have a blood disorder which makes me chronically anemic. So he comes back about 45 mins later and asks what my hemoglobin normally is. I tell him 10. He says, well, you're down to 8. His mood immediately changes. He says I think its times we call you're OB and call GI and we're probably going to have to transfuse you- have you ever had to be transfused with you're condition? Luckily, no! I'm a nurse and I know they're safe but I'm starting to freak out now! I've seen reactions. So, now my room is flooding with people after people, dr after dr. Then I explain a rash and fever I had a couple of weeks ago so this morning I also had an echo after they also heard a murmur. GI decided not to scope me as its too risky as this point for the baby. They had me on a Nexium drip last night and this morning. Had my transfusion of 2 units of blood last night. I'm now taking oral Nexium. Hopefully I'll be going home tomorrow. Still on liquid diet- ugh! They've drawn blood after blood- when they can find vein- not pretty! Hopefully this will be the end of this ordeal!

aww mami so sorry to hear this hope all labs come back good so you can go home soon, keeping you and lo in ly prays
Thanks everybody. I got out of the hospital yesterday afternoon. My hemoglobin yesterday morning was only at 9.8. Technically after 2 units of blood it should have been around 14 because its supposed to go up 3 grams for every unit of blood. I already have my normal appt with OB on Monday scheduled and made an appt with my family dr on Wednesday. I have to call and get an appt with GI for the next week or so. Of course my insurance wouldn't pay for the Nexium without a prior approval and I'm not going to just shell out $400 for it. So the pharmacy called the on-call dr at 8pm last night and she was nice enough to suggest some samples of something we have at our office to get me by until one of the many drs I saw during my hospital stay can get me one. I love having healthcare coverage but sometimes its such a pain! I for sure thought getting the blood would give me back some of the much needed energy I so desperately needed. I guess it hasn't kicked in it. I'm sure ready for it to kick in anytime though! Thanks again for all the thoughts and prayers!
