How do you keep your cravings under control?

I'm going on 8 weeks so i'm still early in the game but i've been noticing slight cravings. More so they're just an 'i see it I want it' kind of craving. Normaly i'm a healthy eater. I'm vegetarian (opted to eat a little tuna and chicken throughout the pregnancy for added protien) but man my normal cravings went from fruit and healthy snacks to totaly bad for me snacks lol. Cinnamon rolls, chips and dip and all that fun yummy stuff that normaly i'd only eat on very rare occasion. Now it's seeming like a couple times a week if not more lol.

Don't get me wrong I don't mind eating junk food on occasion but I also don't want to eat un-nutritious food this regularly. So how do you keep your cravings under control? Or do you just give in?

I'm like you, a very healthy eater when not pregnant...but man o man when I am pregnant, the rule book is thrown out the window pretty much.   I do try to keep it a lil healthy (i.e. craving sweets...I will eat a lot of fruit), but really, if I dont full fill a craving..I will keep dreaming about it until I get it.  I know in the first trimester when I am so sick, I usually just eat what I am craving otherwise I usually cant stomach it.

during pregnancy I usually just give in... or eat something extremely similar (instead of chips and dip I eat pretzels and dip or instead of the high caloric ranch dip with ruffles I do tortilla chips and salsa)... but normally I would say about 90% of the time I just give in. I did with DS1 too and I only gained 17 pounds with him and I have lost 15 pounds with this one even though I give in with this one too.

Ahh yea i'll have to try considering alternative yet similiar options. Today was the high calorie ruffles and french onion dip. I would usualy eat that maybe once every couple months but it was usualy to salty for me to eat much more than a few chips worth but man I went through half the bag and half the dip in one sitting! Afterwards I was stunned with how much I went through lol. This will definately be an interesting food adventure for me lol. Pretzles and mustad dip sounds very yummy now lol

The only cravings I've had have been for soup (almost any kind) and te worst I've EVER had... Dr. Pepper. I looked at the sugar content, since Diet isn't the same... 40 GRAMS of SUGAR! UGH! I haven't really drank much soda at all for about 2 years, and now I crave it at least every other day.

All I can say is GOOD LUCK! :-)

I havnt had many cravings.  The ones I have had are like frozen strawberry lemonade (mind you it's winter in minnesota) and like cake pops from starbucks, but they are so spendy.

Eh your prego it happens!!! :) I just gave in a lil with the bad cravings.  I mean i wasnt the healthiest eater before hand either, but i mean a few crazy cravings wont heart ya. :) If it helps, maybe just ignore them and try to eat peanut butter and celery or apples and peanut butter :)) That's what helped me!!!

I'm 39 weeks and I haven't denied myself too much really. I start by eating a good fiber/protein breakfast (oatmeal and hard boiled egg I ate that a lot). Also, I drank a ton of water. Sometimes when I thought I was hungry I was actually really thirsty.

I tried really hard to keep under control with my second pregnancy. I all but gave up by 20 weeks. I think you just have to keep reminding yourself why you don't want to give in and keep the junk out of the house. Give yourself a few healthier yummy snacks regularly.
