Premature babies hereditary?

I was thinking in one of my usual freak out about my baby being premature. Premature babies seem to run in my family. My mother was premature I was and my sister was five months to early and had to spend almost a year at the hospital. My sister had a son and he wasn't premature but I'm still not sure, it's not hereditary is it?

My husband and I were both premature. My husband was barely 4lbs. His brother was 2lbs and some change. Our two babies were full term (40w2d and 39w2d). It can be a common thing in the family, but it's no guarantee.

I don't know that it is hereditary. But it can seem to run in families. Good luck!

Me and all of my siblings were all born at 40-42 Weeks. I haven't made it past 38 Weeks after 2 pregnancies.

I'm not sure, but it couldn't hurt to bring up the history to your doctor so they can monitor you.

I am not sure, but this is something my midwife always asked me about if my mom had any premature births.
