Yes my babies were born this way, great experiences!
Quoting CubsFan1:I'm a long way off but I'm also researching it. It seems like a better option but isn't available in lot of places. I wonder if it really is easier than normal labor.
It's pretty easy to contrast-- getting out of the tub to go to the bathroom or walk or whatever is more intense (and often more painful) than laboring in the water. Water reduces the intensity!
Yep! I have labored in the water for two of my births...delivered one in the water. And, I have had two land births. I totally preferred the water birth...it was amazing.
I am planning one this time around when I have my baby at home.
My babies were born in the water! (Technically my son wasn't a water birth, but that's another story)
This photo was taken just minutes after the birth of our second baby. She was born in the caul. :)
I saw my first midwife when I was 16 weeks pregnant with my first baby. She saw me through to the end and ended up making the end of my labor more difficult than it should have been- i found out recently (nearly 2 years later) that she broke my water instead of it being an accident as she made it out to be (she was about to check me) and it made my son get stuck, but he came out fine with no problems. With our second, I shopped around the same area for a midwife. I found one and stuck with her at 20 weeks, and she and her partner made sure my second birth was *amazing*.
It's a 20 minute drive for us to the hospital birthing center. It took 1hr45mins to make it there while i was in labor with my first. We were in town for hours while I was in labor with the second.
Is this your first? if you don't mind me asking, what area are you in?
Quoting CubsFan1:For the ladies who had a water birth, when did you starting looking around for a midwife? I found two hospitals that have a tub or allow one but they're an hour away so I may have to choose home birth but i would prefer to do it in a hospital.
