I am 34 weeks pregnant and honestly have not gained a TON of weight. They say 25-35 pounds is a good avg weight to gain and I just hit 18lbs gained from my starting weight.
I am struggling however with the "hopeless" feelings I hear about all the time with moms and their changing bodies and feeling like I will never have a good figure again. I know this isnt always true, I have a few friends that had kids around my age that look great!! I just know that with my history with weight that I dont lose it very easy. I am not being into exercise, simply because I have had a broken ankle and knee surgery and hip problems related to cheerleading and years of gymnastics. So exercise isnt the most comfotrable thing.
I plan to breastfeed which I know can help.
Any tips from other moms about losing weight?? Even if it includes exercise..specifiscly what did you do?
My biggest tip is don't gain the weight in the first place. You are doing great for 18 weeks. My goal is to only gain 20 at the max during pregnancy. That seems to be how much I lose right after from the baby, water weight, etc.
I do know how you feel. I gained 60 or more with my first pregnancy and my body has never been the same. I only gained 28 with my last pregnancy but even with working out kept gaining after (I lost 20 after having the baby). I am huge and disgusting right now and it feels impossible. I don't lose weight by working out so it's rough.
Breastfeeding doesn't always help either. I don't lose any weight while breastfeeding. After I quit with my first I lost some weight right away.
My point is, as long as you don't over gain in the next 6 to 8 weeks. You should be just fine. Your body will probably be a bit different but it won't be bad. Focus on how cute your belly looks and remember that it is all baby, not fat.
I have struggled with this, not physically, but body-image wise. It's hard to feel sexy with a big belly. I do workout, and it really helps. I'm very frustrated with what my diet has to be, as before I would rarely eat protein (and even then it was about 2 oz of meat) or grain, but I clearly cannot avoid these things. If your joints are in pain, I would recommend getting them on track with some prenatal yoga. They're gentle exercises that got me pumped to exercise throughout my pregnancy. Now I'm doing weight training each day and have found that that is really the part that manages my weight (I gain 1.5 pounds each month). Simple things at home like pushups, squats and lunges, and dumbells because I don't want any turkey arm! I also walk or bike each day and chase after kids at work all day for my cardio.
Once you see your PP body, you will know which parts of you need work, and you can work those parts and combine it with a walk each day. That's all you'll need because you're doing really well. Since you're breastfeeding you will for sure still be eating healthy.
This is what I was going to say because I don't lose weight while nursing either. When baby cuts down a bit around a year old, I start dropping the weight pretty quick so just give it time and don't be discouraged. Don't worry about the weight for the first year because losing it too fast can hurt your milk supply. You'll get there, just give it time. =)

I didn't lose weight when I was nursing my first, even when I was exercising. It was crazy frustrating. Shortly after I finished nursing her, I got a personal trainer at my gym, who I have been working with for over a year. I am 28 weeks into my pregnancy, and I am at my pre-pregnancy weight. I lost 10 lbs in the first trimester, and gained it back slowly over the 2nd trimester. This is much better than I did in my first pregnancy. I'll continue working out with my trainer after the baby is born, when I can start back up again.
A (good) trainer can take all of your injuries into account and make you strong enough around them that they probably don't bother you anymore. My trainer has a client who had back issues and hadn't run in over 20 years. He's been working with her for less than 2 years and she ran a marathon this summer.
