I got a call today my doc said she scheduled me for a csection on may 14th because of my babys position shes transversal and wont be turing she has no room to turn back head down plus my BP is borderline high but my question is after they take her out & i go into recovery how long will it be before i get to hold my baby my friend said she didnt get to see her baby intil 4 hours later ??! I thought i would be rolled right into my room with baby in my arms i didnt know i had to wait 4 hours intil i went back to my room . What happened with you all ?

You have to wait at least one hour, while youre watched in recovery, but then you should be able to see and hold baby once youre in your room. ive had three c sections and thats how it always was for me.

Ask your doctor. I was able to hold my son right after he was born then they brought him back to me in recovery.

Same here! With my youngest that is...with my oldest, I got to see her and hold her briefly, but not breastfeed. In 18 short months the hospital changed their policy for the better!

When they took my baby out, they showed her to me really quick, and then did weights and such (my husband was so cute, he wanted to be over with her but didn't want to leave me.  I told him to go, they were just right across the room).  Then they brought her over and he held her by my head while they finished sewing me up.  Then we all went into my recovery room together and she never left my room.

It is different for everyone. If you are stable, you should be able to hold her right away. But you need to make that happen. Don't leave it up to the staff to decide. If you are having trouble or are unconscious or too shaky, you would have to wait a while.

Good luck! I hope it goes really well for you.
