I'm 38+3 and I haven't dropped, dilated, or effaced! My doctor is talking about maybe inducing or giving me a c section if I dont start making progress. How can I speed things along and is this normal? Can she drop right before labor? I appreciate any advice or stories please!

Yeah...its not a race. You dont have to progress to a certain point by a certain date...and def not by 38 weeks! Youre perfectly normal!

You don't have to be any of those things right now. You might still be none of those things two weeks from now. Or three. And yet, you can spontaneously go into labor at any time. My suggestion would be to stop having cervical checks so you don't stress about it.

You are not even full term! I would tell her that no you will wait till after 40 weeks to make any kind of decision. A csection is just beyond stupid there is no medical reason at all! Do not let your dr bully you!

All of that means nothing :)
You could be like that the hour you go into labor. You can be dilated 0 and give birth mere hours later or be dilated 5 for weeks. I didn't drop with my first until half an hour before I went into labor. I was 40 weeks 3 days.
Now I don't even bother to get checked, during pregnancy or labor. It was so discourging my first pregnancy that I decided to refuse checks. Makes me feel better :)

You can try walking, epo, sex.... I know how you feel momma. And at 38 weeks you are considered full term! I wouldn't go the csection route, but maybe talk about induction. It's YOUR body and your choice and no one else. An make that decision for you. Just don't let ANYONE persuade you. If you feel your ready and baby is ready get an induction, if not wait. Good luck momma!!! Can't wait to hear your story and see pics!!!!

I didn't drop or anything til my first ones water broke. I was out days before and no one believed she'd comeon her due date but she did. My second I was 1cm for probably three weeks. Then finally went into labor 11 days past my due date. I turned down induction on my second and she just kept scheduling my next appointment. They didn't tell me how effaced I was with either. I just knew I was one cm dilated for what seemed like forever.

You are considered full term, but I would wait a few more weeks. Could just be that your body or the baby isn't ready. I didn't drop until right before I had him (my first that is) but I would just wait it out for a few more weeks before making any rational decisions. I wish I could go that route I would in a heartbeat. I'm not one of the lucky ones. I have to have a planned csection due to medical reasons. If your bound and determined though try walking a lot, sex, eat some pineapple. (I was told it helps to induce labor). Good luck on your choice. Also you can google more suggestions if you feel you really want to push forward with things. :)
