I am still breastfeeding my daughter and I am in my first trimester of pregnancy (usually around 3-4 times per day). My doctor told me to take 2 prenatals per day, but that is all she had to say about it. I have heard conflicting opinions on this topic, any thoughts? Pros/Cons? Thanks!
As long as you don't have any complications and not a high-risk pregnancy, then go for it! I nursed my son for the first 3 months after getting pregnant but with his teeth coming in and him wanting to chew more than breastfeed, I put him on solids and gave him breastmilk in a bottle or sometimes formula. I got his pedi's blessing before doing this too. In my case though, I am high-risk so I really needed to be careful but I would get a second opinion on 2 prenatals as that does seem a bit much - did your doctor explain why the need for two? Any concerns on being anemic? I am just curious... Good luck momma!
I was not high-risk, I had personal concerns about being anemic but she told me this without us discussing those concerns and prior to taking any blood tests so I guess it was just her normal suggestion to women who are pregnant and nursing. It did seem odd to me!
