Why Darci Chose a Homebirth - Twice (13 Months Apart, Too)!
Hospitals are for the sick and dying, thought Darci, so why would she want to go there to give birth? Instead, she planned a homebirth for her first baby, and said the mood was more like a party than anything else!
But even though she'd wanted a waterbirth, the tub wasn't where she ended up delivering her son - watch the video to find out why!
What do you think of the idea that hospitals aren't meant for giving birth?

I think we all have to birth in the place which makes us the most comfortable and safe feeling. I personally see the hospital birth center a place for giving birth for me at my hospital. It is such a friendly home feeling place...I really felt completely comfortable there hence why I have delivered my four children at the same hosptial.
That's true. Though nearly all complications that do arise during labor are a result of policy/testing/procedures that happen in the hospital itself.
Homebirth is for healthy, low-risk pregnancies- it's very well known. :)

Agree 100%. When men took over normal birth and took it into the hospitals, death rates rose drastically. Women started dying constantly from "childbirth fever." While this is nonexistent anymore because doctors have learned sterile techniques, it is still true that low risk women are much more likely to die in childbirth in the hospital than in their home with a qualified health care provider (midwife). Our maternal death rate is horrendous, and is vastly underreported in this country. It is worse than many 3rd world countries, let alone the worst amongst all industrialized nations.
Sometimes. Some of us have complications LOOOOOONG before labor ever starts. I do think there is too much intervention during labor, but I don't find homebirth heroic or anything. Just normal. People who CAN have homebirths should be thankful for such normal pregnancies, that's all.

No not true, my dauhgter wouldnt have made it due to my body if It wasnt for doctors and hospitals. :O(
I wasn't meaning to offend you. You'll see that I said homebirths are for the low-risk, which is true and what we're both saying here, lol. :)
