Lots of questions, for the assisted and unassisted homebirthing Ladies?
I delivered my daughter at home with my Hubby and Doula after 1 hr and 52 min of active labor. I had been in labor for about 24 hrs but apperently I deal with pain really well because I slept through most of it LOL. Needless to say my Hubby and I agree we will only have home births from now on.
So here are some of my questions...(I am kinda starting to research and have a plan. We have been TTC 2 yrs now and are hoping we get our BFP soon!)
For you who chose assister or unassisted homebirth...why did you chose to deliver with or without assitance?
If you have already delivered this way in the past....what was it like, what were the pros and cons?
Also for either assisted or unassisted what did you have to assist you during labor (props wise) such as balls, pool etc?
Did you buy your own birthing kit? If so where from?
How about the birthing pool? If you had one did you use it? Was it where you delivered? Did you buy it/rent it etc? If so where from?
I guess that is all my questions. Please add anything extra you wish. My daughters labor was so fast and so easy, I feel like Hubby and I could totally handle it on our own. I am really blessed to deliver easily. And my baby's aren't particulalry huge. So unless we end up preggo with twins we are thinking about going unassisted. Even if Hubby isn't there I totally think I could handle things on my own.
If we have twins we still plan a homebirth but would hire the midwife and doula. The doula I had with my daughter mentioned that for $500 she will come out for deliveries and just kinda hang around incase she is needed. That way Hubby and I can do it on our own but have her there for back up incase there is an issue. But over all these are just ideas we are bouncing around since we aren't even preggo yet.
I also am trying to figure out prices of pools and where I can get them from. With my second son I wanted to deliver in the tub at the hospital which they didnt allow. But sitting on teh hard surface of that tub during labor was horrible. And I couldn't get on my hands and knees because of the Ivs. So it just sucked. With my daughter I labored and delivered on my hands and knees. It made labor and delivery easy. So I am thinking I would love to deliver in water on my hands and knees. But I know once I am in labor I will do whatever feels good at the time, so I am kinda scared would it be a waste of money. Anyway again just throwing around thoughts. Any info suggestions etc, please share!
