Breast feeding in public. Big deal?

What's the big deal? Of course no one wants to have some guys looking at their breast and getting excited over someone just feeding their baby. I don't think showing breasts is really the issue. Most of the time people make a big deal about it when everything is covered up and there is nothing to see. I don't see many women showing thier boob off when they breast feed. If you see something good for you and get over it already.

I just think it's silly. When I go to a fashion show, I often see breasts. It's really not that big a deal. How often do you even see women breast feeding their baby's? Not that often I'm sure. So, when you do, don't roll your eyes or make a fuss just ask yourself......

Would you rather listen to a screaming baby?

I know I'm the minority but it really did bother me when a family member breathed her baby at our dinner table in front of my two kids: teenage boy & young girl. Here I am trying to teach him to respect women & her modesty ... Not so easy when a family member plops her boob out while we are all eating. I had to answer 100?s that I wasn't prepared to answer. I personally always pumped & prepared bottles for public. That's my opinion

Same, and I don't use a cover.  At home I am not as careful to be discreet.

IF they are covered up and nothing is showing but if the breast is out in the open that means you need to try harder. Are we teaching our kids two ways of feeding a baby, yes we are but they don't need to see a breast hanging out and yes I had seen that and yes I did roll my eyes. Big deal.

I personally do not BF in public, but I have no problems at all with moms who do, covered or not...

I still nurse my son in public if he asks for milk and he is 26 months. I have never used a cover because he hated his face being covered up. I don't blame him. Would you want to eat with your face covered? I love when I see other mother's breastfeeding their babies or toddlers. I always give them w sweet approving smile.

I have actually, on both counts, and yet my opinion hasn't been changed... not by you or any other EBF fanatic. Go live in another country if you want to EBF without judgment. Or live in a communist society. Or be forced to cover every part of your body in public. My point stands.

You might think I'm "talking out of my ass", but you listened, didn't you? AND felt the need to try and prove me wrong. Which means I had a point. Good game though.

I will breastfeed proudly no matter where I am. Anyone that has a problem with the fact that I am nourishing my babies the best way I can is welcome to kiss my white a**. However, there are ways to do it discreetly to avoid creepers, such as buying a nursing cover.

Also, if you insist on breastfeeding a child old enough to ask for it, do it at home. There's a difference between feeding an infant that can't feed itself, and babying a toddler or grade-school age child just because you have severe attachment issues. No matter what people say about "other countries", it's not normal in America (other countries torture people too... do you condone that? How about oppression of women?). In this case, you're just asking for ridicule. Extended breastfeeding is quite honestly just an excuse to spoil your kid because you're afraid to let them grow up.

So breasts aren't sexual when feeding an infant, but they are when feeding a toddler? if you think there's an attachment issue by women feeding older children, then I think you're talking out of your ass and haven't actually discussed it with any of them or read on the benefits of nursing older toddlers.

I'll flop it out as much as my kid needs to eat. Pfft. Who cares what they think!

People are so prude.  I like nursing with a cover on.  But if it is more comfy to momma and baby to nurse without good for her.  don't let Prude people dictate your comfort level. If there uneducated, it's not my fault. there were times I would bf in public with cover on and my daughter would play with the cover.  I would try and stay covered, but only for my comfort level.  I didn't want people seeing my stomach lol.  But what are they going to see, A mom feeding her baby the best way that she can.  I just can't see why a guy would get excited over a mom bfing?
