Im 11w3d pregnant and I have a TERRIBLE toothache that comes and goes. The last time I had it was when I was 6.5 weeks. It was only in one tooth....a tooth that I had a root canal in 7 years ago and had never given me problems up unitl I became pregnant. I went to the dentist who did a check of the tooth and a cleaning and checked my other teeth and said that nothing looked wrong with it. None of my other teeth had any cavaties or any problems. He actually said my teeth were in great condition. He said that the pain was most likely due to pregnancy, that women get pregnancy gingevitis and that it was just the nature of the beast. He gave me some sensitive toothpaste and rinse and told me that it woud get worse as the pregnancy continued. Fast forward to last night and my tooth is bad again. Im talking like pain equal to having a broken bone. Pain and fire accross my whole left side of my face. I slept for 2 hours last night. It still hurts today. I took some of my sons paracetamol syrup last night and thatdidnt help. Ive been prescribed baby asprin to take every day because I have a blood clotting disorder,  (along with blood thinner injections) and every AM I take it with my progesterone supplement and folic acid. Well, 30 minutes later I felt the most relief I had in 24 hours. Im sure it was the asprin. so now, can I take more asprin if the toothache comes back? My dosage is only one pill every AM-would taking one at night when Im in pain be a bad thing? I dont see my obgyn till thursday. All I know is I wont survive another night in that kind of pain again. ALSO, if it was pregnancy gingevitis, wouldnt it effect more than just one tooth? One that just happens to be a tooth that Ive already had work done on? I feel like there is really something wrong with that tooth, but to truly check would take xrays and opening up the filing which would be more painful I think. I dont know what to do. Anyone go through this? Any ideas on pain relief? Should I see another dentist? Im about to tear my hair out. Thanks for reading. I know its long. Please help.

Ouch, I'm so sorry you're in so much pain.  I do hope it gets better for you very soon.

I'm not a Dr. so I of course I can't say asprin is ok, but my suggestion would be to call your Dr.'s office and ask to speak to a nurse.  Usually if they can't talk right then, one will call you back.  I'd ask her about it.  She'll know what is safe for you and the baby, she'll probably pull up your chart, etc.  This way maybe she can give you some advice to at least help you get through until your next appt.   Your Dr. and his nurses are always there for you, no need to wait until your next appt. :)

Im not sure this will help and im sorry i have had my share dental issues (8000.00 worth) and they suck! Im sorry u are going through this. I have noticed that when i have a sinus infection or an allergy even when i have no other symptoms it usually starts out feeling like i have a toothache. You could ask your ob if you could take some benidryl to see if that helps. Im sorry im really no help im just going off of personal experience.

I was in the same boat I had a tooth ache so bad I was crying because it hurt so bad my a dentist appointment there was nothing wrong with it. So I went to my dads after and he happen to try warm water n salt well I said yeah ok for a tooth pain this bad I don't think so. Well he was right the pain went a way with in an hour but I used the warm water n salt every ten mins. Then just to be sure I used it every time after I ate and before bed and haven't had it sense then.. I still do the warm water n salt just before bed now my OB said that's fine if it's keep the pain away it's not like I'm drinking it I'm only rinsing my mouth out with it. Hope u feel better.

Im living in Poland and its a bit different here. I see my dr at her private practice which is only open for a few hours on Wednesday and Thursday nights and she dosent have a receptionist or nurses or anything like that...to make matters worse, she's on vacation at the moment. I have her cell number if it gets really bad but I think I'd go to the ER first. I know it sounds strange, lol. We have public healthcare in Poland. The public place is closed on the weekends, but I think if it gets worse, I may just go to labor and delivery and ask a dr on call there. :-/ Thank you so much!

I think I will but I have to wait till Monday. Dental care is private only here in Poland and no one is open on the weekends. It sucks!

Actually, Ive heard of this happening and I have been sick for the last 24 hours.....my ears hurt, my glands are swollen...maybe the toothache is only here because of that stuff! Here's hoping! Thank you so much for the feedback. :-)
