My doctor seems to think I won't make it to 40 weeks and at the very least have a very fast labor/delivery since it's my third baby. I told him I have my Mom coming when I give her the "I'm in labor call" but she is 5 to 6 hours away. He said it's not a good idea b/c I won't have that sort of time to wait. Do you think he is right with his concerns? I have never been this dialated before and am getting contractions like crazy! They don't go anywhere tho. BTW the doctor who examed me said one to two cent. when I told the other doc this he kept referring to it as 2 cent. Do you know what one to 2 means exactly?

Doctor is a moron! You can be at a three for six weeks or you can be locked up tighter than Fort Knox and deliver in less than a day. How dilated you are has no bearing on when you will go into labor. Labor is triggered by chemicals secreted once those little lungs are finished developing- which is something that can't be measured by someone needlessly sticking their fingers up into your vagina. Each labor is different. Unless you have a history of super fast labors, you should be okay.

1-2 cm can me you are a full 1cm but stretchy to a 2cm - it's all a rough guess anyhow cause everyone's fingers are different sizes and you measure it based in what you "feel" up there - he may have been able to just barely get two fingers in there so you weren't quite 2cm but could stretch some if that makes sense

yeah my labors have been very fast. first was 7 hours from start to finish (only that long b/c he was face up and took 2.5 hours to push) and second was 4 from start to finish and I rested for a long time after my epi before pushing. I live an hour from the hospital so that is sorta scary for us.

I was always 1-2cm the last month. The fact that your mom is 5-6 hours away would worry me to be honest. You never know how fast you'll deliver. My first was delivered in 8 hours. My second was delivered in 5. Everyone's body is different and if he's concerned then I would go with his advice.

I would say the doctor is right. My sister just went threw this same thing. She although did makr it to 38 weeks but when he started coming there was no time to spare @the all. I was suppose to be in the room with her needless to say i did not make it and I was only 45asking mins away. Shr only push 3 times and he was out. They say the 2 & 3rd babies are a lot fastet then the first. So it looks like it gets faster n quicker every time. I would say mom needs to be closer to you from now until u have ur baby if possible. Good Luck n Congrats :) :)

Umm yeah I was 4cm for 6 weeks and delivered on my edd with my 3rd. If you deliver quick though I defiantly would not wait for your mom to get there, you'll be having a home birth ;)
