Car Seat Safety Challenge Day 2: Know the Expiration Date
Car seats expire and it's important to know the date. Today's challenge is to check your child's car seat expiration date. The expiration date is calculated from the time the car seat
is manufactured, not when you buy it.
Here are some reasons why you should stop using an expired car seat:
- Materials wear down over time.
- Car seats are only tested for a certain period of time.
- Technology is constantly improving.
- Safety standards change.
You can often find a car seat's expiration date stamped to the base of the seat. Car seats usually expire about 6 years after they were manufactured.
