I saw one a few months ago cuz DHs family have a history of cleft lips. All they did was have us fill out a family history of genetic issues and then did an anatomy ultrasound and a 4D ultrasound to check on everything and then talked to the counselor about our babies chances of having any geneic issues. (which were slim)

I had genetics testing done (blood work), and we found out I carry the gene for spinal muscular atrophy. After that, my husband was tested, and he does NOT carry that gene, so no further counseling was needed. I wish I could help you out, but all I had done was blood work! But here's a bump!

Yes, twice with my last. Be prepared for them to tell you every possible thing that could go wrong. The genetic counselor both times said we need to discuss amniocentesis and if there was anytime we would think of possible le termination. The second time I told him that our baby is in God's hands and we are not going to play God. The second time we were there for cysts on her brain and the can be linked to trysomy 18. Come to find out through my ob. Those cysts will go away between 24-28 weeks and the only time there are links were when they were seen with 2 or more other key physical things. I am sorry to sound so negative but both experiences were very emotional. We decided after the second that we would no longer go back. We now have a very healthy perfect 2 month old.

I don't know the details, but I know someone that has been and going too. She carries a genetic disease that killed her older brother in his 20's:( She goes through fertility drugs, extract eggs, test the eggs, and then start invetro. I hope she gets the babies she wants so badly.
