Getting my cervix checked in the morning...

Some people use cervix checks to see if they are dialating, but it doesn't tell you if you are going into labor or not. Being aggressive with the cervix, or stretching it can induce labor and may cause AROM. You always have a choice to do any procedure. It may be uncomfortable. I liked knowing. Also if your water us ever broken. Do not let them check, regardless of being "sterile" because it introduces bacteria regardless. There's no such thing as absolute sterility. It does introduce bacteria but as far as I know its not harmful if your membranes are not ruptured. It should also be okay if baby is breech. The things to worry about are if you have placenta previa or ruptured membranes.

I got them done last pregnancy, but am refusing this time. It caused me to be way to anxious. Haha. And impatient I suppose.

yes it hurts....like hell.at least for me.they say you feel pressure hell no that shit hurts(and this has been 4 drs so i know its not my dr) you can refuse it wont hurt the baby if he is breech.it doesnt make you go into labor it doesnt spread infection.it tells you if you are dialated and effaced and they stick their fingers in your vagina and feel the cervix...i think i answered everything...

i dont think i want to have it done.. i dont trust my dr and i feel uncomfortable with it. i thnk i should trust my gut but i am afraid he will tell me its for the best and needs to be done or something. what i really dont like is he just does things and doesnt explain why they are being done and exactly what he's doing.

and im having a c-section so i dont really see a point in getting it done. thanks for the help! i just dont know what to do!

There's no point. At all. Especially if you're having a section. Why would your dilation matter?

And yes, there is an increased risk of infection.

I have only had one done. I was about 35 weeks pregnant I think. The only reason I did it was because I was having so much pressure that I thought I was dialating fast. I was indeed 2 centimeters but it meant nothing. After that I refused them because my baby is breech and I will be having a csection on Wednesday. Ill be 39 weeks. They're not necessary and if you don't want it done then just tell them. My doctor didnt give me a hard time for saying no.

there is no point if you are having a csection...just tell him no and stand your ground

 uh i dont know about infection(it didnt give me one). I had my first last week and it did not put me in labor but did make me bleed(did hurt for a second)  and now i bleed everytime i have sex(no pain) .its ok if he is breech.

idk.. i just have this bad gut feeling about it. if he would tell me exactly what was going on it wouldnt worry me but i dont like letting him do things without informing me completely on whats being done. i might sound like a lunatic but i feel like i should go with my gut! and the bleeding thing scares me.. im just afraid something is going to happen

 I have the bleeding thing cuz apparently i have a very soft cervix. I wasnt told it was gonna happen til it was. Millions of women get there cervix checked everyday and they are fine. Baby wont get infected at all unless your water is broken. If you are concerned talk to your doctor about your concerns and then decide. It will be ok
