I'm 30 weeks and have very mild and completely controlled gestational diabetes. The baby has always seemed to be very healthy, active, and I feel pretty well.
I just got off the phone with my doctor who said that baby's abdomen measured small at my ultrasound yesterday. He wants me to come in and have the abdominal circumference rechecked in a couple weeks.
Is this anything any of you ladies have experienced? As of right now I'm not too worried, but I can't help but think of the possibilities. What could cause restricted belly growth in the baby?
I wouldn't be too concerned, since those numbers are estimates. It's probably nothing, but it could be a sign of the intestines not maturing as fast as the rest of the body. A baby's intestines continue to mature and grow throughout their time in the womb as well as 9-14 months after birth. Keep up on your vitamins and continue to eat healthy, and update us when you know something else!
