Why does it hurt to sit on the ball?

So, my baby is in a pretty good position, but midwives and doula have given me some exercises to try and get her back more towards my stomach and not my side.

Cat/cow = hurts.  I can only do a few before I'm out.

Anything on my knees = hurts......honestly, I have bad knees.

So they've also suggested sitting on an exercise/birthing ball.  Preferably leaning forward, but sitting on it in general.

So I sit on it.

It really hurts my back at the very base.  Leaning forward helps, but it's still uncomfortable.

I was highly considering using this in labor, but the fact that it hurts when I'm not even in labor has me questioning it.

Is it normal for it to hurt?  Will things be different in labor?

If it hurts, don't do it! It shouldn't be hurting you.

Is your baby posterior?

It doesn't hurt for me to sit on the ball, in fact, when my tailbone is killing me usually sitting on the ball will ease the pressure a ton and make it feel better.

The ball hurt me too because there is no back support.

Have you tried leaning against your bed or something while you're on it for support? And also your ball may be the wrong size. That's the most common mistake I've seen. Or aired up too much.

Oh and one other idea (sorry pregnancy brain), ask about doing a rebozo shake. It is on your knees but I usually have my clients on their bed and I stand over them.
