Get Ready for Baby Day 2: Baby Gear

Posted by   + Show Post

Today's challenge is purchasing baby gear.

There is so much baby gear out there, it can become overwhleming just thinking about it. It's hard to know what you should or shouldn't purchase or what to put on your gift registery.

Baby gear includes car seats, bouncers, high chairs, walkers, swings, carriers, strollers. You need to decide what brand and style you want of each of those.

Do you want a convertible car seat, an infant car seat or a travel system with car seat and stoller together? Do you want wooden high chair, a plastic high chair or one that you use on a chair? Do you really need a swing or walker? What kind of carrier do you want? What is the best for your little one?

Take some time to visit several different stores and 'test' out their choices before making a decision. Do some online research, including searching the recent recalls. Ask your friends and family for recommendations. Ask for recommendations here in the Pregnancy group or on the Babies group.

What kind of baby gear are you buying? How will you decide what is right for you and your baby? Do you put these items on a baby registery and hope someone else purchases them? If you've already had your baby, what baby gear did you chose to buy?

If you missed yesterday's activity, you can find it hereIf you haven't signed up for the Get Ready for Baby Challenge yet, you can do so here.

We aren't buying much.  We have a lot leftover from our second child still.  We buy them ourselves though, unless my mom goes crazy (like usual) and just starts buying stuff lol.

This is my second child so I have a lot of baby gear saved from my 1st child. I do in fact plan to buy a new and better quality car seat and a new 2 in 1 saucer/ jumper.

I will be purchasing a car seat on my own.  I don't think I will be buying any swings or anything and I won't ask for any.  I am sort of "old fashion" in this dept.  I feel like most baby gear are wastes.  Instead of a high chair I plan to use a booster seat (its cheaper and saves lots of space)

I am going to be purchasing a car seat stroller combo for my baby girl. I still hall other stuff from my 17 month old that I can still use just no car seat.. I will be purchasing it myself. Brand I dont care about.

The main thing we are buying is at tax time my 23 month old will be getting a new carseat Graco Size4Me and the new little man will get the Britax Advocate 70cs that my son is currently using  I just have to get the infant support for little man so he can go straight to the Britax. I have talked to my carseat specialist friend about how I wanted to do the carseats and she suggested this idea as the best to keep my 23 month old RF even longer than he already is... We as well will buy all this I dont have baby showers its my responsibility as the parent to get everything for my children...

Unfotunately I gave away most of my baby gear not too long ago, as we had said we were done.  So I could really kick myself now.  I need to get a swing, bouncy, & pack n play.   I check reviews before purchasing & safety.

We won't be getting much 'gear' this time around. We got most of it with dd #1. The nosy thing we might get this time is a co sleeper and maybe a portable swing.

I will be getting a travel system.  For me a bouncer and swing are needed so we'll be getting that as well.  I'm not sure about the high chair.  I honestly never used one with my first daughter that much so we might be skipping that.  I'm not using a carrier either.  I'm not sure if I'd like one of those or not.
