Designer labor gowns... Posh pushers...

Is anyone planning on purchasing a special labor gown for their labor and delivery?

We have a local business that makes them and they sell for about $50. They're exactly like hospital gowns but have different fabric and a pretty ribbon to tie around the ribcage. I've also seen some on etsy that are the same concept that sell for anywhere from $35 to $75. Then there is one line that is "disposable" that sells for $24-$30... Those are a bit different with a halter neck and low back, and a big hole for the belly that has tie closures.

What are your feelings on these? Is it something you would invest in?

I honestly feel that you're wasting money buying one!

You're going to ruin it with blood & ect..

Spend that kind of money on something you need for the baby..

Just my opinion! :)

I'm now at the fabric store, attempting to gather supplies to throw together my own make-shift gown lol.
Eta: mostly just for fun... And as a neat nesting project. I'm not gonna spend more than about 15-20 on it though. And I dunno if i'll wear it for labor or just postpartum. I had been looking at gowns to buy for postpartum and haven't, so this may serve that purpose :)

I won't be using one, for most of the same reasons I've seen listed here.  If you have the money to burn on something you'll probably use only once,  then that's certainly your choice.  I'd rather buy designer baby clothes personally.

I ended up making one today and spent less than $20.
I can't decide if I want to wear it for l&d (cute pics for our first moments together) or wear it postpartum so that MAYBE it doesn't get nasty and I can have it as a keepsake.
