Did anyone check there own cervix in late pregnancy? I ask because i was talking to a firend today and she asked me if i was dilating and i told her i did not know i have not been checked yet but i will be at my next apt on the 31st. She looked at me kinda oddly and goes oh you can check if your dilated yourself. Is that even safe? i was shocked by her statment so it got me to wondering has anyone ever done this befor?

No I never did. I would leave that to the docs.

I don't even know what its supposed to be like normally so checking it would be pointless lol

I did it all the time. Just amke sure your hands are clean, your nails dont have any sharp edges, and that you dont touch anything to hard. Be gentle...

I get mine measured via transvaginal ultrasound every two weeks. I have a history of preterm labor so we are being on the safe side. I know that the jelly crap can introduce infection, but that is a better risk for me than having my cervix open and expel the baby with no signs...
