Anyone else been told not to worry about an echogenic focus then the baby born with downs?

At 20 weeks, they found a bright spot on her heart that they called an echogenic focus. They said it can be a indicator of downs. I freaked out to no end and had to be seen by a specialist. The specialist said the spot isn't that bright, so he dismissed it as a calcium buildup on her heart. He said it doesn't affect the function of her heart nor does it indicate downs. Has anyone else been told not to worry about this then had the baby born with downs? I don't worry as much as I used to about it, but I still get worried every now and then that she is going to be born with it...

you cant let yourself worry. Even if it is an indicator of downs... there isnt anything they can do. I know its harder said than done. I think... If i were in your situation... I would look things up on how to help a kid with downs. Dont look up the chance of downs or what downs does to the kids or anything that is going to make you worry more. Just simply how to help a child with downs. Good luck and prayer your daughter doesnt have it.

Here's a bump!

No sense in worrying over something that's beyond your control. Try and relax mama!

They found the same thing on my 20 week u/s. I had a level 2 u/s 3 weeks later as well as a blood test for 3 of the trisomies, which came back negative. The bright spot was still there at 32 weeks, but no one is worried.
