3 hr glucose test

I was just wondering how many other moms had to endure the 3 hr test.

I 'failed' the 1 hr test today and it crushed me. I know its not the end of the world or saying there truely is something wrong but it really upset me. I didnt have issues with my first pregnancy so why now? My results were 144 and from what Ive gathered cutoff is like 140 and anything over 200 is a huge problem. Can you moms shed some light and knowledge on this matter for me please and hopefully ease my fears some. Thanks :)

i will probably not do that test.  too many false positives and that stuff they make you drink is garbage... i won't put that crap in my body!

Our clinic does not offer the 1 or 3 hour tests anymore.  They only do the 2 hour glucose tolerance test. So I had to do that this time. :( I am upset they took the 1 hour test away. I've never failed and didn't fail this time either.

They should do a two hr. The one hour is bs. I didn't have to do a 3hr with dd bc my 1hr was high. Very high. I didn't do one with this pregnancy either bc dr just told me it's inevitable. It was.

I also had no issue first pregnancy and 'failed' the first test during the second.  The three hour test sucked.  You are borderline so odds are you are fine, they intentionally set the threshholds low...but, you also don't want to get into a situation where you do have gestational diabetes and didn't know.  It is a pain in the ass but although I pass on several other tests I thought were worthless I did this one.  Your baby, your body.  Talk to your doc about pros and cons of passing it up and do what you feel is right for you.

I failed my 1 hr test and had to go take the 3 hr test and I passed that so I dont have to go do it again. The 3 hr test sucks I was dizzy and got sick after going through that one. Good luck!

Ive never heard of a 2 hr test but that would be pretty decent to do (since i was there 2 hours anyways). I think the 1 hr doesnt give enough time and the 3 hr is going to be annoying :(

I did. And i heard its common to fail the first one and pass the second. I was one of those woman. I drank soda too close to midnight with threw off my 1 hr test and caused me to fail. But i passed the 3 hr like it was nothing.  Mine was actually 144 as well. The only thing the 3 hr test did to me was make me super tired. I slept in the doctors office between blood draws lol

Hey thanks! :) I know they set the limits low and thats usually why alot are false positives but it just bugs me :( I dread the 3 hr one due to more worrying now on my part. Im fairly sure Im fine too but you know how ur mind can be ur own worst enemy. With my 1st I was like at 100 and surprised the nurse. Im gonna do the 3 hr one only cuz like u said Id rather know if there was a problem than not and cause more harm and I also think bc with my 1st my liver started acting up at 37 weeks but went back to normal after I gave birth so I guess I might as well get all the info I can. Thanks for the support! :)
