ok. so we have a 1500 deductible per person for our insurance.  i've only met about $70 for the yaer.  we reup our policy in june.   i'm only billed for the first visit then i get a bill at the end for whatever insurance doesn't cover.   if i renew with the lower deductible, how will that affect my billing?

it depends on the insurance company... with my insurance I had to pay THAT years deductible...so with my kids I got pregnant in June, had them in March. So June-December was one co-pay for the pregnancy (and that carried over into the new year) but for the hospital stay it was the new year's deductible...if that makes sense

ok, that was kinda confusing...so I had 1 co-pay of $60 for the specialist and then my hospital stay was $1000

hm. my copay was 36. the total bill will be around 3k.  my deductible is 1500 and then 50%, but the delivery and all the major stuff will be after the insurance is changed.

i had medicaid with my other children.  i got BCBS last june and that's the first time i've EVER had real insurance, so it's all really new to me.

I have United... what I would suggest is to call and ask them for an EOB (explanation of benefits) and how that's going to affect your birth. Ask them for a rough estimate based on your deductible and co-pays...they should be able to at least give you an idea of what you will owe
