Hello,
Early last week I went for my rountine 20 wk anatomy scan. Well, the U/S tech couldn't even identify 1/2 of the anatomical structures she needed to because my amnio fluid was VERY low. I was told my the OB that I'm in the bottom 2% for fluid levels. :( Couldn't tell baby's gender, couldn't see much of anything.
Has anyone gone through this? I have an upcoming appointment with a perinatal specialist on Tuesday 2/5 and until then I'm just pushing the water and trying to take it easier than I normally do.
:( Any experiences would be welcome.
Drink at least one gallon of water a day (very seriously, a gallon). Did they say what your AFI levels where? Below a five is cause for concern. Your waters can easily replenish. Stay away from caffeine and sodas (even caffeine free sodas!). I have not heard of this so early, so it can be an issue or it can just be that you need modify your diet and water intake. *hug* Best wishes!
My AFI is about a 5 ...at least that's what I got from the Dr. I know that losing some fluid is normal toward the END of the pregnancy, but I'm only 1/2 way through. I've been drinking a lot of water..I'm up to juuuust under 3 liters a day. Thank you for the responses of support! It's much appreciated. I will definitely update after my appointment on Tuesday. I don't think that I've ruptured my water or anything like that, they asked me if I felt any leakage, and I haven't...sooo hopefully I was just a touch dehydrated?

You need to be drinking at least 80 ounces of water per day. How much water (not tea, not soda, not coffee, etc) you drink directly impacts your amniotic fluid levels and baby's health.
Well, after seeing the Dr. today, everything measured normally. We're back up to an AFI of 11, which is spot on for this stage of pregnancy. The low fluid could be attributed to a few things 1.) U/S tech error 2.) Slight dehydration 3.) Could have been a normal fluctuation for MY body. I have another appointment in 2 weeks just to make sure, but the Dr. said he has seen nothing to indicate that anything is "wrong". The baby is actually growing quite normally and is right on track! Also, it's a boy!
I was found to have low fluid at 37 weeks. it was a 6. Was told bedrest and drink drink drink water. 3 days later it went down to 5.2. :/ 3 days later it was up to 7.8. they decided to let me go a week. When i came back in a week it was non existant so I was induced.
Praying they get your fluid levels back up mama!
