My blood pressure is high, and I did 2 NSTs and AFIs last week, and my fluid is borderline low. I go back to my doctor Tuesday morning to re-do all my labs, turn in a 24hr urine (I have to do that Monday morning-Tuesday morning), and check my blood pressure and fluid levels again. The doctor said if they are the same, or even a little worse, I will probably be induced the next day. I am fairly sure my protein levels in my urine will be higher this time, I was 7pts away from mild pre-eclampsia before I bp jumped up in the past week. So my questions is, are there any ways I can try to induce labor at home that you know works? We have been trying spicy foods, pineapple, sex, nipple stimulation, and so far nothing much. I really want to avoid being induced at the hospital, if I can,
Sex and walking are the best ways I know of. If your body isn't ready I don't think you can make it happen on your own. Walking and having sex are both good for you anyways so theres a plus side to trying : )
Good luck
Thanks. I think I am just going to have to stick with what I have been doing, and hope it works before Tuesday. Pitocin is awful, I don't want to have to do that again if I can avoid it.

I know what you mean. I was induced with my last and everything was great until they gave me the pit. I was hoping to go naturally this time but as of my last 2 appointments my bp has been high. My dr is going to have me go for NSTs twice a week and see him once a week and once I start dilating he is inducing me. I still hope I get going on my own though : )

Yeah, I am dilated to 1cm, and the doctor said my cervix is very, very soft, so I am hoping I just happen to go into labor before Tuesday. I have had contractions off and on for a week and a half, so I guess that is promising. lol

You need to drink drink drink and eat LOTS of potassium-rich foods! Potassium is one of the most important factors in managing blood pressure, especially during pregnancy, and it's overlooked 99% of the time. Your fluid is directly related to the amount of water you drink.
You should be drinking about 80oz of water every single day in the third trimester. Here is a link to a list of potassium-rich foods.
I drink about a gallon of water a day, no joke. I have to pee every 45mins-hr, so I know it can't be from dehydration. As for potassium rich foods, after looking at the list, I eat a good amount of potassium already (bananas, beans, sweet potatoes, yogurt, oj, tomatoes, strawberries). I could probably try eating more, but I don't know if it will change things, I had high bp and borderline low fluid when I was pregnant with my son, and I found out a few days ago that it apparently runs in my family (high bp while pregnant).
My doctor actually told me that apparently you could develop decreased fluid when you have high blood pressure, which is why they check your fluid levels when you have non-stress tests for high blood pressure.
