Midwife.

I prefer low-risk care providers who listen to ME.

1st and 3rd home birthing midwife. With my first before we start to try. I had a miscarriage and when I as talking to one of my Aunts. She told me I had options. So we looked into our options and knew a home birthing midwife was the best for us.

My second we had a Family Dr. Because my midwife hubby was being transferred. It was just till we found another midwife but we did not. My Dr also led me on to think she would be natural minded and I would not have to do certain things. Sure found out as time went on that was not true. She knew how to look good at first.

So before we started to try with our third. We found a midwife and hope to use her again in the near future.

I saw my first OB because I'd been at his practice since I was 16.  I chose a CNM with my 3rd in the hopes of avoiding the intervention riddled births of my first two and ended up being induced and meeting the OB literally right before she turned on the pitocin.

I chose my CPM with my 4th, and I'm seeing her with my 5th because I wanted a homebirth and as soon as I met her we just clicked.  We have a ton in common outside our passion of birthing also.

Midwife. I had an OB until I was 30 weeks and hated him. I want someone who actually listens to me and abswers my question with more than a yes or no or 1 sentence answer.
With my OB I had 5 minute appointments and I could ask my midwife questions for an hour! Also when I went to my midwife she said they (my OB) had done the 18 week ultrasound wrong and hadnt done all the tests they were suppose to!
My midwife stayed my whole 15 hours of labor massaging my back most of the time and she was pregnant!

My last birth i wasn't doing much in labour. My ob was trying to get me hooked up to pit. The midwife kept saying, we will hold of a wee wile because i think your going to have this baby really quick and you don't need pit. Sure enough baby came 55 minutes later, completely natural.

I chose a person who would care about my opinion and welfare of my child. Two babies later and I still think he's the best OB.

I have an OB. He's a pretty good dr. The more I read on here, though, the more I realize that he is, indeed, a dr and into medicine instead of natural things, though. But he's pretty good about giving me his professional opinion and then letting me do what I want. And I like that he has 6 or so kids, and that he's really laid back about things.
