Anyone else here gestational diabetic?

I just found out I am gestational diabetic.  I am only 11 weeks along so my OB as well as my endocrinologist thinks that because of my family history of diabetes, I was diabetic before I found out I was pg.  Now I am on a modified diet and have to check my blood sugar 4 times a day.  I am trying to keep it under control so I don't have to take insulin.  For those of you that do have to take it, what is it like having to give yourself a shot.  doing the quick poke of my finger to check my blood sugar is not so bad but having to stick a long needle in me kind of freaks me out!

I am gestational diabetic for the 3rd time. I so far have only had to use insulin with my 1st ds. It wasn't too bad, but I didn't inject it myself, my dh would give me the shot into the muscle in my arm. As long as he shot it almost like a dart I barely felt anything.
