So, I'm due with my baby girl July 12th and I made the agreement that if we had a boy, I would name him and if we had a girl, dh would name her. He chose the name Heaven and told me to choose her middle name. Her middle name will be Amara and we both really like the name. My mother who is all of a sudden getting super Catholic on me says that it is sacreligious and nothing about her is Heavenly because she was conceived outta adultery (I got divorced from dd's father and am engaged to be remarried). My grandmother says it is to much of a burden on a child. A few friends and relatives have said I should switch first and middle names so that the meaning is instead Unfading (Amara's meaning) Paradise (Heaven's meaning). What are some thoughts??? I don't think we're gonna change it, but am I wrong for believing that these people are overreacting?

I would tell everyone to shove it and name my kid what ever I want to.

You aren't going to change their minds. In some religions, you don't use religious words as names.

I wouldn't change it for anyone. If you and your husband like the name, use it.

I think they are overreacting.

Once baby is born, no one will care

This is why I refuse to let my mother know the child's name before he's born. I just KNOW she'll criticize. In the end it's your and your fiance's decision. Go with your gut and don't let anyone bully you into thinking otherwise.

someone had the nerve to say that if they met a child named heaven that they'd scratch their head and laugh for days.
