Pregnancy Pregnancy

Stress during pregnancy.

I read an article that I came across that states stress during pregnancy increases the chance of having a stillborn. I have been extremely stressed this pregnancy and have occasionally wondered if/how it is affecting him. Have you been stressed during pregnancy before? Did it affect baby? In what way?

i'm going through quite a bit of stress myself.. it makes me curious about the experience of others. i'm still early on and i worry about stress causing a miscarriage.

i would say that being 'extremely stressed' is relative to the person, what the person can handle. what one of us thinks is stressful might be normal to someone else.. where did you find the article?

I was browsing The Huffington Post and it came up. I will post it below. I do agree on what one might consider stressful others might just consider a day to day normal. I am sure if I were to state what stresses me others may laugh at but we all handle it a different way. This my 3rd pregnancy, my 1st was fairly easy as I was so young and lived with my mom and she took care of everything. My DD was the most laid back happy baby you would ever meet. DD 2 I was married, he got laid off and we had to move back in with my inlaws and we fought with them alot. I cried constantly and didn't handle it well, she was an extremely cranky baby that was never happy. It's always been in the back of my mind on if there was a connection.

I had a LOT of stress this pregnancy. First my morning sickness was terrible for about two months, I lost around 20 lbs, I have also been away from my hubby since I was about 5 months preggo and I will be delivering by myself :( , just last week I had to go get checked by a specialist because my doctor had a suspicion that I might have cancer. Honestly, its been rough to say the least and Im in the same boat as you, Im so worried it has all affected baby girl :(

I was extremely stressed with my first. He was unplanned, we werent married, i was going to a private Christian school I could have been kicked out of and I was soo close to graduating. I dropped out of school, quit my job, had a shot gun wedding, we fought a LOT, DH started working out of town so I barely saw him and kind of did it all myself. we were broke.]

and i had the happiest little guy ever :)

try to relax as much as you can bc less stress is better for baby. but it does NOT doom him to stillbirth or even to be a difficult baby

I have been thru sooooo much stress during this pregnancy.. It's unbelievable.... My father passed away about 3 months ago and the stress and sadness has been so bad that I even lost a patch of hair... I was very worried about my son.. But thank God he is perfect so far and today I am 29 weeks along

I was stressed with my first in the beginning because I was being sued from a car accident 4 months before, then it got dropped but I had health insurance until hubby and I married. Then it was work stress. Had a lot of teeth issues, 2 or 3 extractions.

With my 2nd, I just remember our dog giving me problems. He had health issues at the time, it was frustrating plus I had a 4 year old.

Now with my 3rd, I have two kids, ages 10 and 5, a new puppy (again), and just life. I am older, more overweight....I try to breathe deep if I am too stressed.

I have been incredibly stressed this pregnancy. This was definitely the worst possible timing and everything is wrong. I worry quite a bit about the brain damage it is causing

I was incredibly stressed out my first pregnancy. Preterm labor, abuse, people threatening to kill her. It was awful. Her therapist says they can start forming trauma from emotions at 8 months gestation (which is why the birth is important) and it could have something to do with her anxiety. Of course, she also went through medical problems as a baby, meltdowns as a toddler, and heart surgery as a child. Maybe once a day sit down and just relax, maybe sort of meditate, and focus on your baby. Close your eyes and put your hands on your belly and just send loving and calm vibes. I do that once a day, even on a good day. Can't hurt, right? I read it in a book as a suggestion for bonding.
