In previous pregnancies (when I wasn't vegetarian), I was told that regular tuna is okay in small amounts during pregnancy. But I was warned to stay away from Albacore tuna since it has a higher mercury content.

Tuna is okay about twice a week.  It has lots of nutritional value and omegas, but the mercury content means you have to limit it.

My doctor told me to stay away from it due to mercury.

I was told it's fine a couple times of week, as long as I avoid the albacore tuna.

If you're still worried about mercury content, you could look into different brands they have at more natural grocery stores. Those brands tend to know what variety of tuna is processed.
