I am 19 weeks 4 days and went in for my anatomy scan this morning. Baby boy looked good except for a moderate amount of fluid in his abdomen. They acted very concerned and I have to go to a maternal fetal specialist. Have any of you had an issue like this? Please help. I am so worried.

Did they tell you what it could be? I have no experience with this. I hope somebody can help you out.

1 mom liked this
I would assume they are concerned about a bladder/kidney issue. Baby's in the womb normally swallow amniotic fluid peeing it back out. But sometimes if amniotic fluid is low, or there is excess fluid in the belly it means baby is swallowing it but not peeing it out correctly! That is the only thing I could imagine, but that is just from what I have experience, read, etc. So I may be way off. Did you ask them their thoughts?

I dont have any experience with this. i would call and ask your doc for a callback to help explain concerns.

I would call my Dr's office and get more information on what they are concerned about. I never had any issues with my son.
