Why does it hurt so freaking bad when the cervix is being checked to see if it is dilated?

The cervix becomes very sensitive during pregnancy, and it is worse for some women an even with different pregnancies. It wasn't bad with my first at all and not with my second either, but it hurts now with this one.

Usually because the cervix is posterior up until labor. The doc or nurse has to reach pretty far up to get to it.

It usually only hurts me at the very end of pregnancy.

I just had one and it wasn't bad at all...I think if they take their time and go really slow (which they don't normally do) then its not so bad.

I think a lot of it is the added pressure

Just say no.

Cervical checks are not necessary or helpful.
