It could be. I'm no expert on how those tests work but I do know with my 2 previous babies I wasn't allowed to eat for a certain amount of hours before drinking the stuff.
It's possible, since you're supposed to fast beforehand. But telling them won't make much difference. I'm sure they'll still want to do the three hour test. The one hour does have a decently high false failure rate, though... so fingers crossed you are okay!
I'm having mine at my next appointment (My OB does a 2 hour test) I was told to fast for 8 hours before the test. Eating before could definitely have caused a high result. Hope your 3 hour test comes back okay.
It should be a fasting blood testt so if you ate you need to tell them
Instead of going through the whole 3 hour test, have them check your fasting glucose level WITHOUT drinking the sugar mix too. That's what my doctor did for me. I came in slightly elevated for the sugar mix test, but was able to do a regular fasting/no sugar mix test and came in normal. It's an option they should offer you instead of having to automatically do the dreaded 3 hour test.
