Pregnancy Pregnancy

Has anyone been told the sex at your first trimester screening?

I know they usually do those around 12-13  weeks and I know some people have found out then. I'm just curious how often people have found out around that stage and if it was accurate. I had one with my last baby but he wouldn't show us the goods for the tech to guess. I found out the sex with him at 15 weeks.

I was told with DD that it was "maybe a girl" at 13weeks and that was confirmed at the next ultrasound and with this pregnancy I was told "maybe a boy" at 12+ weeks and that was confirmed with later ultrasounds. Some techs won't even bother looking though since it's still early on.

Sex organs are not formed that early.

I was told with DS he was likely a boy at 12+6 due to the "angle of his dangle." Of course, at that point it's more of a 50/50 chance of being right.

I was told a gender at 13 weeks or so...it was clear as day, but she was wrong.  Baby was all girl.

They can give you a guess based on the nub theory but it's not 100%.

Even if they tell you, I wouldn't put much faith into it being accurate that early.  Personally, I'd wait rather than get used to the idea of one gender and then being told that it's the other later on.

I was given a guess of a girl at 16 weeks but was told that was still to early and then it was confirmed at 19 weeks

We had our Mat21 test done early and despite the contention that sex organs are not "formed that early", the DNA is set.  So our provider knew very early on that we were having a boy.  Apparently DNA is more conclusive than a subjective ultrasound tech, though our tech was able to confirm at 20 weeks.
