Is it safe to start at 37 weeks? OK for a women who wants to have a vbac?

I read that you shouldn't take it pregnant.

It's mixed reviews from everything I read. I'm just avoiding it.

I took it once a day after 37 weeks each week I would up the dosage I beleive. My midwife recommended it.

I don't believe it does anything positive.  I used it during my last pregnancy at the end and ended up in labor for 4 days.  I'll never use it again.

I've used it for a few babies orally starting at 36/37 weeks. I've not noticed any difference. I'm not using it this time.

I used it with my 2nd. I inserted it vaginally starting at 37 weeks. I was 4cm dilated at 38 weeks. My water broke at 39 weeks and baby was born 2 hours later. I actually do think it helped soften my cervix.

I was advised to take it because I had surgery on my cervix and have a lot of scar tissue. It helped soften the tissue so I wouldn't have problems dialating.

Is this something I can find over the counter at Walmart or do I need to look elsewhere?
