Question about labor...

You would think I would have this down to a tee since this is my 4 child but even BTDT moms have questions, right? Anyways I was wondering when I should call my husband home from work. I have been having a lot of contractions the past few hours but not enough to send me to the hospital. I was thinking of going to bed and if I wake up with more intense contractions then it will probably be time to go. To give you an idea of how my labors go, my last one was two hours start to finish, the one before that was only an hour and the first one was a whopping 6 hours with the use of pitocin and the epidural. I labor quickily and my husband works in a casino so he needs to shower before going to the hopital... When should I call him? I really dont want him to come home for nothing. I have been contracting off and on for the last few days getting more and more then nothing, but now I think it may be it... I just dont know and dont want to call him for nothing... Adivice please!

I don't really have any advice but I totally sympathize. My first was normal at 11 hours 20 minutes but my second was born in the car. When I went into labor with my third an exercise on base had just started and he was where cells weren't allowed. I didn't want to call him for nothing. Once I knew it was labor I went ahead and called since I skipped the second stage that last time. In the 30 seconds it took for him to call me back my labor went from being sporadic to third stage. Lol! He worked close by that time but we will see what happens this time around. I am hoping for a home birth with a certified nurse midwife so he won't have to worry about delivering the baby in the car again. Lol! If I were in your shoes I think I might just call him, explain the situation, and let him decide.

Oh this is my worry for next time! My first labor was 11 hours, with an epidural and no pitocin. Second was just over 2 hours and my third was 1 1/2 hours. I'm not sure what to tell you though. Good luck mama!
