Ladies! I am 40 weeks pregnant and my cervix is still completely closed. My husband is going on deployment next week and I'm concerned he won't be able to see his son be born. Can you guys help me calm my nerves a bit please.

Sometimes babies don't arrive until 42 weeks, especially if it's your first. Sorry :(

Hang in there!!

I just had my last baby at 40+3. I was at a 1 for weeks before hand and SO uncomfortable. Once I finally went to the hospital I was dilated to a 7 & she was born an hour and a half later!

Have you talked to your OB about it? He/she can give you the odds better than anyone since they've been tracking your baby's growth. Good luck!

Babies are tricky. I was checked at 6:30ish in the evening and was 1cm with minimal cramping and contractions and was at the hospital four hours later, 9cm dilated. It could happen any minute. Good luck!

Edit: Three days overdue, btw

Baby will come when he/she is ready and that is best! Good luck hun!

Sorry. My cervix was totally closed at 40 weeks and I didn't have her until 42 weeks. Since your cervix is closed induction isn't likely to be successful. You guys should have lots of sex, and you should bounce on a birth ball or walk stairs to help put pressure on your cervix. In the end, the baby will come whenever he or she is ready!

You can safely go to 42 weeks. Sorry mama, hoping it happens sooner than later for you:)

Hang in there! I know it's frustrating, my second stayed in the full 42 weeks. Try some walking or talk to your ob.
