I knew It Would Happen, But Hoped It Wouldn't!

I got a call this morning informing me that I failed my 1 hour glucose test and I have to take the 3 hour test now.

This has happened every single pregnancy and I always fail the 3 hour as well and end up being diagnosed at Gestational Diabetic but I was REALLY hoping maybe this pregnancy would be different :(

So next week I have to pick a day to spend at the hospital lab doing the 3 hour test :'(

I also found our I'm anemic and am being put on iron pills twice a day for the rest of my pregnancy..

NOT the happy news I was hoping for today!

Talk to your doctor abkut taking the A1C blood test. Its a simple blood draw. No gross drink. Ive done ot with two of my 3 pregnancies.
Good luck

Can you deny the 3 hour and just treat yourself like you failed the gd? Don't they have a eating protocol you follow?

I've had a GD diet and the strips to test my sugar 3 times a day. That's what I told her, I'm so used to being diabetic each pregnancy that I know exactly what to do but she wants it done still. I would MUCH rather just skip it and follow with my GD diet and recording my sugar levels, I've pretty much got it down by now being my 4th diabetic pregnancy!

Pretty sure that you have the right to refuse.  If you're going to treat it as you have gestational diabetes, then what is the objection really?  You're going to be making adjustments and taking extra precautions.  That's kind of the point o fthose tests... to see if going to those lengths is going to be recommended.

I failed my one hour also, I was "borderline" for my 3 hour, I had my doctor appointment yesterday and the doc said he wasn't diagnosing me with gestational diabetes but I need to meet with the specialist nurse/dietitian. This is my forth pregnancy and I've never had this issue before :/

you can refuse or ask for an AC1 blood draw instead

Ugh! I'm sorry. That happened to me last year and it absolutely sucks. This pregnancy I am luckily not diabetic.

Failing is awful ...I failed my 1 hr with my son and had to do the 3 hr and passed. Glad I was healthy and so was he, but it sucked.

good luck!

I too failed my 3 hour test.I posted about.I have to check my sugar levels 5 times a day with the One Touch Ultra monitor. What I dont understand is every testing for breakfast and lunch is coming up inder 120 and for dinner, anywhere between 125 and 130. When the results came back for the 3 hour I was at 170 and that was fasting with NO food.smh weird but true.Dont worry yourself about it
