Big baby...

I decided to share with you all. I was at a birth last week. The mom was 41 weeks and still no baby, she was worried he would never come! She also suspected he was big, he felt much bigger than her daughter who was 7lbs, and her husband and all his brothers were 10lbs babies. When she went into labor they headed at right for the birthing center. She was actibe labor was handles it so well. It wasn't until she was almost about to push that labor started t become challenging. She pushed on all 4s for a while and we could tell he was big (her little girl was there and said "he's got a big head!" The midwife instructed the mom to try and lift a leg up, so she did and baby baby head with his hand right up at his cheek came and then the arm and rest of the baby. Although she pushed for a little while, she did it with such confidence and grace.
Baby was born 10 lbs 2oz!

I have been at births were small babies got stuck, or mom needed additional help because baby's heart rate was dropping. JuSt because baby is measuring big doesn't mean that birth has to be challenging :)

Nice! My best advice for birthing big babies-stay off your back! That actually goes for birthing any baby, but especially the big ones. :P

Wow! Good for her. :)

Sadly though no one can predict how gracious or not the birth of a baby that big can be. Glad that in her case it all worked out for the better.
