I'm in a little bit of shock

I'm not 5 or 6 weeks. I knew I was anywhere between 4 and 14ish weeks, but I wasn't really expecting to be that far. I really thought 6weeks or so. Based on my last period, I'm 14w3d. However, in the ultrasound today the baby was measured as 15w6d. The doctor said since I'm already out of the first trimester ultrasound measurements are just an estimate and not a very reliable way of establishing a due date, but since the ultrasound is more than a week off from my LMP, she also doesn't want to really use that. As of right now, she's calling my due date as 4/10/15, which is half way between my LMP due date and the ultrasound due date, but she wants me to see the high risk specialists and get a more detailed ultrasound and then see what they determine my due date as. So for right now, I'm 15w1d.

I've lost almost 10 pounds in the last few weeks, and she addressed that, saying that especially since I'm not having any morning sickness, I should at the very least not be losing more weight. I'm supposed to gain 35-45 pounds between now and April. That seems like a lot, but she says it includes the lost weight.

My blood pressure and heart rate were both elevated in the office, but I was a little dehydrated, I worked on the floor today and so didn't get to drink a lot of water before going in to see her, and I was really nervous, but I still got sent home with a pretty orange jug to collect my pee in for 24 hours, and I have to keep a blood pressure log until I see a doctor next. She's hoping the specialists will see me either this week or early next week.

I had some labs done before I ever saw her, and some resulted while I was at my appointment, and I'm anemic and my platelet count was a little low, so I got iron pills and she wants my platelets rechecked in two weeks.

She also did a finger stick blood sugar check in her office and it was only 61, so she gave me juice and crackers and strict orders to eat frequent, small meals.

She did say that she could already determine the baby's gender, but I didn't find out. My fiance and I haven't discussed that yet. On my way out I stopped at the lab again and they drew blood for the harmony test, which is supposed to screen for the most common trisomies and will also tell us the gender. We need to discuss if we even want to find out now.

I'm a little bit in shock and numb. I was really expecting to only be 6ish weeks, I was not expecting to see a fully formed baby!

Wow - I would love to turn up 12-20 weeks pregnant like that! LOL I always find out before 8 weeks. Makes the pregnancies drag on forever!

Good luck getting a more accurate due-date!

Wow. I was 2 weeks off with my due date. Don't panic. If you don't keep track of your cycles, or if they're irregular, it's really easy to lose track. I've also lost weight and haven't been sick. DD is measuring fine.

Well, i think those emotions would be normal for anyone! I can't even imagine finding out so late, as ive always found out by 6 weeks at the latest. At least everything is going well, at least with baby! And some pf the things going on with you are being addressed now, which is also good. You'll be in my prayers that all of your results come back clear.

Thanks. I've been on seasonique, and I'm pretty sure I know what led to it not working (st. Johns wort, which I was taking for sleep), so I really knew it could have happened any time since my last period three months ago, but I didn't think I could go this long without noticing something. But with all the stress we've been dealing with, extra fatigue or extra hormones wouldn't really be noticeable.

I have no idea how accurate it's going to be, and that does make me a little nervous, but it is what it is. As long as the baby is healthy, we'll figure the rest out.

I was on seasonique, so I know when I had my last period, and they've been regular (every 3 months) for a few years now. I've also now been taking st. John's wort for sleep, with everything we've had going on I needed something to help me sleep, and I didn't realize it can make bcp ineffective. But it means while I know my LMP, we can't trust it as being 100% accurate. And since we don't have an accurate due date, they can't really say if baby actually is measuring well right now, it'll take a few ultrasounds to establish a trend of growth. But the doctor didn't seem too worried, so I'm trying not to worry.

Well congratulations! Does that help with sleep? DH desparately needs it. Have you made the appointment?
