I have always heard you should only have a baby shower for your first born....is this true? I have more than 1 child and I am expecting again and have every intentions of having another baby shower......so is that ok? I was given hell by a family friend about this because it "wasn't right" but I feel like it's FINE!! What do you ladies think?

I think it should be acceptable!! Every child deserves their first party, their first little gifts. I know with my first, I got a lot of little things that he still has (his little bath towel that he still loves, a special animal, etc) Unfortunately I didn't have a shower for my DD, but that was just because I don't talk to anyone anymore, and I wasn't about to throw my own. I wanted one though!! I think it should be alright, who cares if someone disagrees. Don't invite them lol

I think they deserve their own special shower also!

It is traditional just to have one babyshower for your first born to supply you, the mother, with the goods to start a family. After that is up to us as parents.

We are not having another shower, but I don't think it's bad to have another one.

I see baby showers as more of a way to celebrate a new baby :]
I have a son already and I'm planning on having one for this baby too :]

Back in the "old" days, it wasn't proper, but hey, everything changes, right? And besides, what if your second or third baby is the opposite sex from your first? Then you pretty much need everything all over again for the new baby. I was wondering the same thing, so I looked up baby shower etiquette for a second baby, and all the sites that I found said that now days, it's perfectly fine to have more than one baby shower. So I say go for it!

I know that traditionally you are supposed to just have one for the first child to get you started. I think that now it is pretty acceptable to have one for each pregnancy. Especially if the babies are different gender or if there is a large age gap. My first 2 were over 7 years apart and #3 will be 5 yrs younger than the last. Who keeps stuff that long?

I think it's totally respectable to have more than one.  The baby shower isn't about the presents, it's about the celebration of a new baby and the brave mom who undertook motherhood for whichever time it is.  I unfortunately didn't have one, so I know how important it is.
