Are you considering a pres candidate?

Just wondering if anyone is thinking about naming their child after a presidential candidate?

A few weeks ago, my boyfriend and I were watching the democratic convention and Senator Obama's nomination acceptance speech.  My boyfriend commented on how monumental that speech and this whole election is.  He continued to say that it would be cool if Obama won and we named the baby after him.  For instance, having Barack or Obama as a middle name.  I humored him by saying that it'll be perfect timing because the baby is due Feb 3rd and the inauguration usually happens at the end of Jan.  There is a good chance that the birth will coincide closely with the inauguration.  Even though we did have that conversation and thought it would be cool, there is no way I can go through with it.

But that got me to thinking....I am quite sure that there is someone else out there who is seriously considering doing something like that.  Perhaps not just a pres candidate, but another celebrity.  Naming my now 2 year old son Gavin did have a little bit to do with how big of a Gavin Degraw fan I am, but it wasn't the only reason.  Are you or anyone you know thinking about naming their baby after someone famous?

i seriously considered giving my lil boy the middle name Kahne (pr. cane) in honor of my absolute favorite NASCAR driver, Kasey Kahne.  yeah i know it's weird, but i like the name anyway and it's a different spelling.  i was, of course, vetoed, but i still really like it.  plus, look how hot he is!  it coudln't hurt...

Well not thinking of presidential candidates as namesakes but I do love the name Hendrix as in Jimi Hendrix or Lennon as in John Lennon.

I had never really thought about it, but someone said something to me about the babys name yesterday and it ticked me off. I plan on naming him Grayson and she said. Oh, I'm gonna call him Grey after Greys Anatomy. I said, uh no, his name will be Grayson, not Grey. I HATE that show and my child will NOT be called Grey! I feel better now :o)

ive talked about names on here b4 and had told ppl that we were naming our child (if a girl) after my gma and hubbys gma but i decided that i didnt want to name my child after a family member anymore b/c i didnt want to hurt neones feelings so my hubby and I decided to start thinking about other names...Well the other day I found out that Sara Palin's daughters name is Bristol, I like it, I think its unique and very pretty, I mentioned it to my hubby and he liked it, so we are thinking Brystal (we want to spell it differently than her) Marie...IDK, I like it, but thats my opinion... :)

Wow!  Guy is hot.  I would have been watching more races with my boyfriend if I knew the drivers were this hot.

I agree, musicians always have the coolest names.  Good luck in picking a good one.

I feel ya girl, my son's name is Gavin Jordan so someone came up with the great idea to call him GJ.  Ummmm, no thanks.  His name is Gavin and that will do just fine.  No need to make up stuff like that.

Haha!  Now thats classic!  "Kids say/do the darnest things," but thats too cute.  You've got to write in down in her baby book.  She'll never believe she ever did that when she's older.

If you like the name, I say go for it.  Even if you didn't want to spell it differently.  In fact, I think it's a nice name as well.  Good for you for not getting into the family drama of naming after a fam member.  It's really hard to make everyone happy no matter what you do.
