it doesnt always come out! i lost mine with dd at 32 weeks, NEVER lost it with my son, and with this pregnancy ive been loosing small bits and pieces for the last few weeks. it can be clear, cloudy, yellowish to greenish and it can be streaked with blood. it is definately mucous though, it looks like giant boogers when it comes out all at once, and when it comes out in pieces kinda makes me think of the "egg white discharge" u have when ur ovulating.

According to all the reading that I have done, it does not always have to be clumps of a mucus. It can come out in the form of a heavy discharge. Not everyone will lose theirs before they go into labor. Some women don't lose theirs until they are in active labor or actually getting ready to push baby out.

Maybe this is a stupid questions, but how do you know the difference between the mucus plug and a lot of discharge?

Honestly, I have absolutely no clue about my mucous plug.... First time mom and totally inexperienced. The only family I have living that has had children all delivered via c section. So if anyone is up for advice giving I will totally take it! I'm at either 33 or 34 weeks and have no clue what to expect from here on out...

I too would like to know more info on Mucus Plugs, This is my 3rd pregnancy and with my other 2 pregnancies i never lost my plug, and I think I might have lost mine 2 weeks ago, but am not sure, I mean I have have a lot of "slimy discharge" (sorry TMI) but the day I "think" I lost it was a HUGE mass of mucus, and then shortly after I stood up and had some liquid leak out, but I just ignored it and dealt with it, I did not even call my Dr, so...not sure whats going on, and I am going on week 27 of my pregnancy....also on a side note, there have been times where it hurts to even sit down because of all the pressure of the baby, and I even get very bad back pain and cramping...anyone know what I should do?

I am 37 weeks pregnant with my number 3 baby.  WIth my first two pregnancies I never lost my plug until basically push time.  I remember the dr saying, "theres the plug"  I was in the Dr yesterday and she did an internal exam and said I was 3 almost 4 cn. dialated when i came home lastnight I was having contractions and felt awful.  I  lost my part of my plug last night.  kind of streaky clear  with spots of it pale white and tiny thin streaks of blood.  No biggy, dr said it can come a week or two before labor even starts.  Anyone who wants extra advice about having kids can feel free to contact me.  I have had all kinds of issues this pregnancy and two really smooth pregnancies so I can help!!  Just let me know!!
