what is it really...............i know its bactiria (sp) and they give you meds while in labor, but i never had it with my last two and have it with this last one.....is it something i could have prevented????????

It's a normal bacteria found in some women. Not harmful to you, but can cause the baby to get sick if not treated, usually with IV penicillin (unless you're allergic, then there are other meds). Not something you can prevent.
