Hands hurting?

For the last 3 days I have been waking up with my hands hurting. It hurts when I make a fist and is sore down halfway to my elbow. It gets a little better after I've been away for a few hours but still not really 100 percent. I tried to google it and I came up with Carpel Tunnel? Apparently its "common" in late pregnancy... I've never heard of this. Anyone else have this problem? My doc appt is on Tuesday.... think it's ok to wait till then?

Yea, I had it with 2 pregnancies.  I bought braces through a hand specialist I see.

Doesnt neccesarily have to be carpel tunnel.  In late pregnancy your body secretes hormones to loosen up your ligaments to get ready for childbirth.  It could just be that.  Won't hurt to wait and ask your doc.

Thanks ladies.... I figured it wasnt something I had to call right away for. It's just really annoying.... Anyone know if maybe Tylenol would help? Bath? Any advice on how to help it?

I work on a computer all day and I have had carpal tunnel for years now (not pregnancy related though). If you find that it is worse at night (or in the morning for that matter), make sure you tell your doctor this because there are special braces to wear while you're sleeping (I have one for each wrist) that really seem to help. I also always you a "computer brace" while at work. It has special padding under the palm of my hand and my wrist to reduce strain while on the computer.

I had this wiht my first and now am having it again with my second.  My OB had me buy wrist braces from Target and sleep with those on.  It is a pain in the butt, but the braces have helped immensely.  It does go away after giving birth (but mine was not immediate).

I had it too, I don't think it's carpel tunnel though bc I have that as well, outside of pregnancy. This feels a lot different. It's the worst in the mornings and in the middle of the night, or any time I have been sleeping. It hurts to make a fist, to stretch them out good or grip anything for a while till my hands "loosen up" I guess. My midwife said arthritis symptoms can be normal in pregnancy and that is how I described the pain before she said that was how I imagine arthritis to feel. It got worse and worse towards the end of pregnany and I had him 3 days ago and it's still here. I got so bad the last two weeks that I can bend my fingers into a fist, and 2 of my middle fingers stay stuck that way - I can't unbend them normally, I have to use my other hand to unbend them. It's like the joints are so tight or something. I hope it goes away soon.

I had the same problem with my 2nd pregnancy, but I worked full time on a computer all day!  I haven't had it at all with this pregnancy.   My Dr. said there was nothing he could do except have me wear a brace, which I never did!  He said if it continued after the baby was born than they could do something to correct it, but it went away right after I had the baby!
