And I have forgotten the rules on caffeine and wine.....
I was just watching "Pregnancy For Dummies, 1st Trimester" where the Dr. said a glass of wine every once in awhile is okay. Maybe the rules changed from 5 years ago, but I had zero alcohol once learning I was pregnant.
Also coffee: I don't remember drinking much coffee at all when I was pregnant, I don't think I had the taste for it. However now it's been hard to give up coffee cold turkey (although I have done it since Monday)
Is it true pregnant women can have 1 cup of something caffeinated a day? It's been so long I can't remember the do's and do-not's of pregnancy! The "rules" seem to be changing constantly!

I have never cut down on my caffine while pregnant, but I don't go crazy with it any way. I have tea and coffee most everyday, and sodas every now and then. Both my kids are fine. I don't drink alcohol while pregnant, but that is mostly because I am not a big drinker anyway.
Actually you can have more than that and I still don't know why they say all that stuff they seem to need to blame anything they can on anything people like. I have never cut down on caffine and all 6 of my kids are fine and I am preggers again. It kind of contradicts it's self
Do I have to give up caffeine now that I'm pregnant?
You don't have to give up caffeine, but you may want to cut down.
If you have too much caffeine your baby could have a lower birth weight than he should (CARE 2008).
A low birth weight increases the risk of your baby having some health
problems when he's born and in the future. There is also a possibility
that high levels of caffeine could cause miscarriage (FSA n.d. b). One study suggested that even low levels of caffeine could be linked to miscarriage (Weng et al 2008).
Guidelines issued by the Food Standards Agency recommend that pregnant women have no more than 200mg of caffeine a day (FSA n.d. a). This is equivalent to two mugs of instant coffee or four cups of tea or five cans of cola per day (FSA n.d. a).

I know that a lot of caffine is a no-no, but I've never been able to drink anything with it while pregnant without getting sick so there's not a problem there.
My sister's doctor told her that a small amout of low proof alcohol once in a great while isn't bad, but I prefer to steer clear of it all together.
