Okay ... I have a daughter that is 9 months old... I am due with my second baby july 21 woot woot im excited... but im still so annoyed with this pregnancy like i was with my first because i guess with my first i had a FALSE positive i had to go take many tests and what not to find out the truth.. i tested positive for hep c i couldn't believe it because how you get that is usually through needles and other ppls blood not sexually that is very rare.... but while they tested me i got a blood transfusion and they never tested me after that... well i go get my blood work done and it says POSITIVE for hep c AGAIN what in the world?!? My midwife said my hep c is positive but my nra is negative so its more likely a false positive... but has any of you had to experience this with more than one of your pregnancy and over the same thing... it scares me && stresses me out and i don't need that especially during my pregnancy.... can i get some reasurrance about this situation... and if you had the false positive the first time did it really come positive the second time!???

I assume you are asking about the false positives for hep c? I have never heard of that happening and unfortunaetly they didnt start testing for Hep C in blood before it was used for a transfusion, until just recently. I did find this article though....not sure if it helps...

I am a lab tech, and I have never heard of a false pos for hep c. You either have the ab or you don't. The only way for it to be wrong would be if someone mislabeled a blood specimen.

No as i said during my first pregnancy i had a positive for hep c

when i was 30 weeks

I got re-tested and it came back to be FALSE POSITIVE

and now this is happening again

&& can someone explain to me what the RNA is!??

This pregnancy came back positive for hep c but my midwife said my RNA came back negative so more likely its FALSE

RNA stands for ribo nucleic acid, and if it's neg it probably means you have had hep c in the past, but that it is not in an active state

When I went into pre-term labor last December, they did a bunch of labs on me and my doctor was like, "did you know you have Hep B?" I said absolutely not. They retested me b/c I insisted, and good thing...it turned out I had the anti-body for Hep B, not the antigen. My Mom got Hep B (she's an RN) through her work, and my sister and I got shots right away to prevent us from getting it, and that was what they were seeing. I don't understand how you can screw that up, but they did...

what does that mean that it turned out you had the anti-body for hep b is that bad what does that mean ... could that mean i might have the same thing for hep c?!?

Ok im confused....how did they know it was a false positive? So with your first pregnancy you had hep C...after that pregnancy you got a blood transfusion....and then got a false positive...is that right? Im not a doctor but, I dont think that a transfusion would completely clean all the old blood out so you would still have hep c.

Maybe see a specialist or see if there is a stronger test that they can run. It sounds to me like you still have hep c....but like I said, im not a dr.
