this question is for anyone that had  a scheduled induction....how did it end?? i mean did it end in csection or did they think it would? and were you dilated?

im scheduled for mine on the 20th of april and i do know the risks involved ive heard em all especially the higher risk for a csection....but i am just a little nervous about the possibility of it ending in a csection even the smallest surgery makes me nervous...but i believe my doctor has good reasons for inducing...any stories welcome:)

MOST of my friends have had inductions (I never have).....and not a SINGLE one of them have needed a c-sections and none of them had any problems whatsoever

With my last two children I was induced.  With my son I was 2 cms dilated and miserable.  He ended up being 8 lbs 9 oz.  With my daughter I was 4 cm and afraid I was going to make it the hour to the hospital.  I wouldn't change either one of their deliveries.  I was induced with cytotec with my son and pitocin.  I had no pain relief.  With my daughter I was induced with pitocin and had her 5 1/2 hours later with no pain relief.

I was induced at 38 wks with my son.  Doctors were afraid he was getting too big and I had been fighting off early labor for awhile so the scheduled me to be induced.  It went really good actually.  I went in in the morning and they put this balloon type of thing in my cervix to help me get started dialating.  Within maybe 4 hours I was 4 cm.   Once I got to 4 they started the ptocin, and I got an epidural shortly after.  The ptocin causes really hard contractions, and they sneak up on you too.  I would ask for the epidural when they start ptocin. After the epidural - it was a breeze.  A couple hours later I was allowed to start pushing and it was over.  Easy as pie.  No c-section no complications.  My Dr. never ever mentioned getting a c-section when we talked about induction.  I personally feel like if you end up needing a c-section during inducement, you would have needed it if you went into to labor naturally too.  I was really happy with mine, I hope I can be as lucky this time around!   Good Luck - don't worry!

I have been induced twice. The first they gave me the gel I was dilated to a 2 when we started. I was in labor for 6 hours. They broke my water which actually sent me into labor. The second was my son two weeks ago I was in labor for less then 4 hours. I was dialted to a 4 when we started and they broke my water again and it sent me into labor again.  I do warn you the contractions are going to come on hard and fast. I didn't have pitocen until I had the epidural with my second and it was because my contractions were short but on top of each ohter.

My first pregnancy ended with a scheduled induction. For me, personally, it was a horrible experience. I did end up with an emergency c-section. I have friends though who had a great experience. It all depends on your body and your doctor. With mine, I was not dialated at all, my body was not ready to go into labor. It was just a mess, i had a horrible doctor though

I had an induction in 2004. No problems, no c-section. I think it helps if you are already starting to dialate and efface. Have you been checked to see if any of that is happening?

I was induced with both my kids. Izaiah was 4.5 hours of labor w/no problems. Anaiah was 10.5 hours and the only problem was she was face up which kept my labor from progressing. She turned and she was born less then an hour later.

My sister was induced with her 3 youngest. Her water broke, but NO labor. She had them all with no drugs and no problems. I also had a friend with her youngest and everything was fine.

I was induced with my DD with cervidil and pitocin i wasn't dilated at all when they started so i slept overnight with the cervidil and i started to dilate i think i got to about 4cm and even with the pitocin i didn't make much progress after that and other then being in horrible pain i was trying to be patient well i got an epi and they broke my water and we tried to wait for her to move down and to dilated more. Well her heart rate kept dropping with each contraction and i wasn't progressing so after a few scares and laying on my side with oxygen my OB came in and suggested a c-section i had been there since 5pm the night before and it was almost 2pm the next day i was ready to have my baby. So we went for the c-section. She was born at 2:17 and 8lbs and 3 oz.

One of the other posters said something about if it ended in a c-section they probably would have had one if they went naturally, well that kinda makes since i don't think my DD wanted to come out vaginally i joke now that she saw the birth canal and thought screw that lol. But i had a good recovery i was never groggy. There was pain but i did breastfeed her and we both were healthy and happy when it was all over.

Good Luck and Don't be scared of induction your baby is going to be here and thats what's important.
